Immigration Reform Bill Introduced

 
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will cease issuing paper I-94 admission/departure records beginning April 30, 2013.  
Changes Announced to I-94 Card Issuance.  CBP rolls out automation of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record  
Update on Receipt Notices for FY2014 H-1B Cap Cases:  USCIS has begun to issue receipts for cases selected in the H-1B lottery.  However, they note that data entry will likely not be completed until sometime in May, and rejection notices for petitions not selected in the lottery will be sent out once that process has been completed.  In other words, we may not have final information on all H-1B petitions filed under the FY2014 cap until the end of May or even early June 2013.  
USCIS to Implement Customer Identity Verification (CIV) at Field Offices  
June 2013 Visa Bulletin shows advancement in all categories, except EB-2 India, which remains at 9/1/04.  
USCIS Publishes New Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification  
Federal government automatic spending cutbacks (sequestration) to result in diminished consular services, including visa adjudications.  See U.S. Department of State Press Briefings of 2/27/13 and 2/28/13.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) application period now open.  DACA grants a deferral of removal from the U.S. for a period of 2 years (renewable) and provides work authorization to certain people who came to the U.S. as children and meet several key guidelines.  See USCIS FAQs and Eligibility Criteria

 
DOS introduces an online "Visa Status Check" allowing immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applicants to check the status of their visa application at the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC)  
USCIS Implements New $165 Immigrant Fee for Applicants Pursuing an Immigrant Visa through Consular Processing  
CBP issues ESTA Fact Sheets in 10 Additional Languages for Visa Waiver Program (VWP) Travelers.
